Sake
If there is one alcoholic drink which has been underestimated for a very long time, then it's sake. Fortunately we now no longer think of sake - sometimes also referred to as rice wine - as the hot and fiery drink served by Japanese people. Sake is a special alternative to wine and nowadays this is drunk and served in a wine glass, slightly chilled. The taste can vary from light and fruity to rich and complex. Sake is hot in Japan, America and an increasing number of European towns. Trendy clubs serve sake and sake bars are sprouting from the ground like mushrooms. Sake is now also being increasingly appreciated here in the Netherlands as a versatile drink, which is now on the menu in an increasing number of top restaurants.
